The Liver and Acne - What is the connection?
When the liver is comprimised there are many ways the body compensates. For instance, the skin is one of many excretion pathways for the body. Contributing factors may involve prostaglandins and hormones. The following article provides a brief summary of the process.
For more information contact Dr. Holly at holly@choicesunlimited.ca
"Keeping a steady communication between hormones and cells, using Prostaglandins that regulate and keep hormones in balance is not enough.
In a normal system, where everything functions properly, as soon as hormones do their job as instructed by the cells, the used hormones that are not required by your body anymore, are therefore quickly removed and expelled from your body.
If these used hormones are not quickly expelled, your system becomes overwhelmed with excess hormones, as new and fresh hormones continue to be secreted to make their function. When your system is loaded with hormones, your hormonal regulation pathways become chronically imbalanced, trigger over production of sebum leading to full grown acne.
What organ is responsible for expelling used hormones from your body? The answer is: your liver. Your liver is responsible for clearing excess hormones out of your blood and lymph, and expels them out of your body through the bowels and kidneys.
Now, what happens if your liver is for some reason sluggish and congested with toxins? You got it. If your liver is weak and cannot clear used hormones out of your system, it will become overwhelmed and chronically imbalanced and you will suffer from acne regardless of how much Prostaglandins your body produces to regulate hormones.
Conclusion: by building a stronger liver we ensure the effective regulation of used hormones to be expelled from our body, making our hormones in perfect balance and our skin clear."
