For a long time, Conventional Medicine claimed that eggs were bad for you and your cholesterol. But now they recognize what REAL Health Practitioners have been saying all along. Let’s look:
1: Eggs pack a lot of nutrients: Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B9, B12, D, E, and choline (the body can exchange choline for Vitamin 9/folate and Minerals like calcium, iron, phosphorous, magnesium, and selenium. That makes them good energy, eyes, immune function, brain, cellular functioning and a huge number of other functions in the body. And note, Vitamin D helps absorption and utilization of calcium.
- What about cholesterol? Well we already know what a Myth that whole Cholesterol issue was, but let’s look at cholesterol and eggs. They contain the good types of HDL (yes there are bad types of HDL – and yes some types of LDL are essential for you!) But eggs actually lower LDLs and they DO NOT contribute to heart disease like MDs were taught to tell you. But there are always qualifiers – too many eggs in a diabetic can cause some issues – so get rid of the diabetes!!!
- Let’s take a closer look at choline. Eggs are one of the best sources of choline which is hugely important for brain development and memory function – it becomes acetylcholine – an important neurotransmitter.
Choline also becomes part of phosphotydalcholine which is hugely important for the formation of the membrane around every cell in the body.
Most adults are deficient in choline.
- Eggs contain lutein and zeaxanthin. These are important carotenoid vitamins essential for your eyes. They reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration, which causes blindness in older age; protect the eyes from sunlight damage; improve night vision and reduce risk of developing cataracts by up to 50%.
- Did you know that 2 eggs is equivalent to 1 serving of meat. The amino acids found in eggs include: histidine, isoleucine, lycine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine – good source of proteins for muscles, enzymes, neurotransmitters, etc.
The problem with eggs is much like the problem with beef – how are they raised and what are they fed? Like cattle, chickens need to be able to move around in the fields and graze on natural foods. We also want them to be free of toxic vaccinations and other drugs. Unfortunately, when egg cartons in the grocery store say free range – that only means that they have been outside their cage for 5 minutes a day.
Attempt to find a real farm with chickens that are fed healthy foods, including flax (great for chickens) and be healthy!!
