How to Absorb Vegetable Nutrients More Effectively

A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/articles/28814399/) claims that if we put soybean oil we will absorb nutrients like alpha-carotene, lycopene, phylloquinone, retinyl palmitate more effectively. The challenge with the study?

Well number one, it was identified in old Ayurveda medicine, 1000s of years ago, that we absorb more nutrient with the help of oils. the oils provide the transport mechanisms to absorb the nutrients into the body. So, once again, science is simply catching up with what was understood a long time ago.

Secondly, I would prefer not to use soybean oil. Most of the soy grown today is GMO. I would prefer to use avocado oil or coconut oil or even nut oils like walnut oil which are particularly good for the heart. Historically, I would even have recommended using olive oil, but we know today that most of the good healthy omega 3s found in olive oil are lost during the processing. If they are protected, they need to be consumed within 8 months. In order to make the claims about the omega 3s in the olive oil, they have to “inject” them back into the oil afterwards. And of course, it is cheaper to use synthetics. Oh dear.

The conclusion, yes, good healthy fats have long been known to transport nutrients into the body, but we want to use good healthy fats.
