I just read an article by an MD who is catching up…the Master Mineral…one that is involved in over 300 base but functions in every cell of the body…one that most of us are deficient in… Rather than take laboratory, man made drugs that are toxic to the body and cause nutrient depletion; may cover up the symptom but NOT resolve the underlying problem…why not just take what real, organic, natural, mineral that the body requires? This is the basis of alternative medicine/natural healing modalities/herbal medicine/naturopathic medicine etc – find the underlying cause and solve what is causing the problem – don’t just manage the symptoms, while allowing the underlying issue to continue to cause more and more issues.
There are several compounds in the body that have huge systemic effects, i.e., involved in the functioning of every cell in the body, ie., B vitamins, glutathione, magnesium – nothing happens in isolation but you loose one component of the puzzle and the whole process gets disrupted.
MAGNESIUM – required to:
- create ATP (the fuel/energy for every cell in the body)
- sugar metabolism (it takes 287 molecules of magnesium to metabolize 1 molecule of glucose)
- protein synthesis
- organ function: heart, kidneys, adrenals, brain, central nervous system
- bone formation
- muscle relaxation
- cell creation
- activation of the B complex of vitamins
Symptoms of Magnesium deficiency include:
- Cramping muscles – including coronary spasms
- Infections: skin, bladder, gum, etc
- Yeast infections
- Numbness and tingling in the extremities
Food sources: the best way to absorb nutrients is when they are in the whole complexity of food BUT most of our soils are depleted in magnesium – thus causing other nutrient deficiencies in our food; AND our food is toxic – thus requiring us to need more magnesium to eliminate the toxicity.
There are a couple of ways we can still get that magnesium in our food, i.e., by using mineral salts rather than man made table salt. Mineral salts have a collection of different minerals in them — much more beneficial to the body than the detrimental sodium chloride/NaCl table salt. Another great source of magnesium is found in wild crafted 100% pure chocolate. Yeah Chocolate…personally I use Xocai chocolate…for more information click here.
