As with virtually all diseases, disorders, dysfunctions….different types of cancers respond to different herbs… I have included a few examples and some Western style scientific studies working with these herbs. Remember that they have been used successfully for 1000’s of years. Unfortunately, what Western medicine does is isolate a given compound (nothing in nature operates in isolation) and then has to synthesize the compound (they cannot patent anything that is “natural”). So we then have isolated synthetic compounds rather than REAL compounds that work naturally in conjunction with a variety of other compounds. But that being said, let’s look at some examples.

Aloe vera: immune cells “eat” the mucupolysaccrides (emodin and lectins) in aloe vera which strengthen the immunce cells and thus their fight against the cancer cells (Chris Haydu, Wikes University)

Curcumin (tumeric) promotes cell arrest and apoptosis (cell death) in cancer cells (Linus Pauling Institute of Oregan State Unviersity); also powerful anti-inflammatory;

Garlic : causes apoptosis (cell death) and autophagy (cells digest themselves)



PSK – Polysaccride K from a mushroom:  (Coriolus) Verisicolor polysaccride (VPS) was approved in Japan in the 19802 as a cancer drug:  slows down some types of cancers; boosts the immune system; lessen side effects of chemo and is an anti-oxidant

Long chain Omega 3s :  wild salmon, mackerol, sardines – slow the growth of cancer cells:  (lung, breast, prostate, kidney and colon cancers)



Berries:  contain ellagic acids and polyphenols which slow the growth of tumors

Chocolate:  epicatechins and procynandins found in whole, raw chocolate turn on apogenesis (cell death) in cancer cells; alter the membrane to take in oxygen rather than sugar; and stop angiogenesis (development of new blood vessels)

Green Leafy Vegetables:  loaded with anti-oxidants and B9 which help destroy free radicals AND inhibit the growth of cancer cells

Green Tea:  EGCG (a type of catechins) reduce the growth of blood vessels
